Trusting God in Difficult Times

Trusting God in difficult times is easier said than done. When everything around us seems to be falling apart, it can be hard to believe that God is with us. But the truth is, God is always present, even amid our struggles.

When we trust in God and depend on His strength, we can find peace and hope in the midst of even the toughest situations. Below are some tips to help you build and maintain your trust in God during difficult times.

Remember God’s character.

God is love, He is good, and He is faithful. He has promised never to leave us or forsake us

Recall God’s past faithfulness.

Think about times when God has helped you in the past. Remember how He has worked out things for your good, even when things didn’t make sense at the time.

Pray for faith.

Ask God to help you trust Him even when things are tough. He will give you the faith you need

Lean on God’s understanding, not your own.

God sees the big picture, and we don’t. Trust that He knows what is best for you, even when you don’t understand.

Find a community of believers to support you.

It can be helpful to talk to other people who are also going through difficult times. They can offer encouragement and support.

Here are some additional things you can do to trust God in difficult times:

Read the Bible. The Bible is full of stories of God’s faithfulness and love. Reading it can help you to remember who God is and to trust in His promises.

Meditate on God’s goodness. Take some time each day to focus on God’s goodness and love. This can help you to feel His presence and to trust in His character.

Pray and worship. Prayer and worship are powerful ways to connect with God and to express your trust in Him. When you pray and worship, you are opening your heart to God and inviting Him to work in your life.

It’s important to remember that trusting God doesn’t mean that everything will suddenly become easy. We may still face challenges and hardships, but when we trust in Him, we can face them with courage and grace.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Psalm 46:1-2 – NIV

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 – NIV

Philippians 4:6-7 – NIV

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:17-18 – NIV

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 -NIV

These verses highlight the idea of placing trust in God, seeking comfort in His presence, and finding strength during difficult times. They serve as reminders of God’s faithfulness, love, and guidance for those who turn to Him in times of trouble.

Final thought: Difficult times are a part of life and Jesus makes this very clear in  John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Prayer: Lord help us to always trust you and not our circumstances. Let us remain steadfast in our faith and continue to hope in you and you alone Amen.
